Everyone Has A Story to Tell from Volume 5 —Compassion and Empathy
Everyone has a story to tell Watch them with your eyes Their beauty is in the story Watch as the words unfold before you Hear them bare their soul and respect the treasures they have found The treasures which they hold dear Everyone has a story to tell Their fortune is painted in their eyes They speak of life’s rewards and pain Look to see the agony and hardships Traits earned by birth Character tested by trials and tribulations Tears worn throughout the years without malice Carried to their grave with pride and dignity Everyone has a story to tell Watch their hands twitch as the years are recalled See the emotion on their lips Feel them inhale the air needed to tell their story Each breath taken telegraphs their emotion The breath they need to weave their story Hear their trials and tribulations and understand Everyone has a story to tell Feel their hands take hold of yours Feel them squeeze yours to gather strength Appreciate their respect for life Understand the strength they unknowingly give Everyone has a story to tell Here is your chance to be a part of their story Just listen to their song Watch as it unfolds before you Cherish this gift they give freely Hold what you have been given Share their story and become the storyteller Carry their emotion on your breath Grab someone’s hand Look into their eyes Share with them the gift you were just given Their words must not be lost Their story may live on from one generation to the next Because the generations must know The weight that was carried for us ~ Robert Neff � �	Volume 5 — Compassion and Empathy. When someone conveys their story, they provide a means for us to understand their perspective of their past and present struggles. We must be able to identify with their perspective. This allows us to understand their story not only from our thoughts and interpretation, but also through their eyes. These are the lives that live among us, yet we are blind to their presence. We need to be touched inside to remind us we are human. We listeners must understand and appreciate the struggles around us. Unfortunately, I have found there is a shortage of compassion and empathy in our world. Hence, one of my goals is to stir the reader’s emotions. I consider Compassion and Empathy to be Reconnecting With Life’s keystone.
